As part of Europe Beyond Access, the British Council in collaboration with Acesso Cultura present a lively discussion ‘Arts and Disability: a new cultural agenda for Europe’.
Addressing the areas for change outlined in a report published by the first European Arts and Disability Cluster last year, the event will look at how best to increase access to the arts for both disabled artists and audiences.

Diana Niepce, dancer and choreographer (Portugal)
An artist who creates work for both stage and screen, Diana Niepce channels themes of desire, gender, intimacy and rebelliousness in her practice that is bold and socially relevant. Her work includes Her works include: Lopussa on Vain with GED, Forgotten Fog with Warehouse 13, Morfme with Plural Dance Company, This is not my body with Plural Dance Company, Raw a Nude, and 12 979 Days at Library of Marvila. Recent collaborations include CiM Dance Company, Plural Dance Company, Teatr21, Bartosz Ostrowski, Mariana Tengner Barros and Rui Catalão.
Filip Pawlak, theatre producer and actor (Poland)
Europe Beyond Access Ambassador and co-author of the report ‘Disabled Artists in the Mainstream: a new cultural agenda for Europe’. Pawlak is a passionate advocate for the rights of disabled artists and increasing disability representation on stage.
Maria Vlachou, Acesso Cultura (Portugal)
Maria Vlachou is the founding member and Executive Director of Acesso Cultura, working for the improvement of access – physical, social, intellectual – to cultural participation. She is also author of the bilingual (pt/en) blog Musing on Culture, where she writes about culture, the arts, museums, cultural management and communication, and access.
